The 23rd Annual AVCJ Private Equity & Venture Forum - Japan successfully took place in Tokyo and online on 14-15 September.

The conference, which focused on sourcing and executing attractive deals and exits at a time of market instability, and managing portfolios to deliver alpha, kicked off with a keynote interview featuring Tadasu Matsuo, Managing Director, Head of Global Alternative Investments at Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) in conversation with Junya Kato, Partner at KPMG FAS.

The forum also featured leading executives from KKR, Japan Post Bank, Apollo Global Management, Advantage Partners, Osaka Gas Pension Fund, Carlyle, ORIX Life Insurance Corporation, EQT Partners, CVC Capital Partners and Japan Investment Corporation speaking on a number of well-researched topics including the impact of macro conditions on private markets and navigating uncertain times, the sectors in Japan that can provide growth in the mid-market, private debt strategies that offer the best opportunities in 2023, the latest developments in the buyout market, strategies LPs are employing for manager selection and portfolio balancing, the next step for Japan venture capital and how ESG trends reshaping LP preferences and fund selection.
