Shintaro Hori
Mr. Hori is the Chairman of Bain Capital Japan, which he joined in 2007. In Bain Capital, he is involved in multiple major investments such as Skylark, Bell System 24 in Japan and Hero Group in India. Prior to joining Bain Capital, he was the Chairman of Bain & Company, Japan, where he served as a Partner for 16 years. At Bain & Company, he was involved in major consulting assignments in a wide range of industries in the US, Europe, Korea, and Japan. In addition to his role as the Chairman in Japan, he served a Managing Director role for Tokyo office, was responsible for Bain's Korean practice and served on the Firm's worldwide management committee.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Hori was an Executive Vice President at Ueshima Coffee Company, one of the largest coffee and beverage companies in Japan and a Partner at McKinsey & Company, where he started his career as a management consultant in its New York office then moved to Japan. He also has experience in turnaround of industrial product company as CEO.
Mr. Hori serves on a number of boards and committees, including Japan Industrial Partners (a Japanese private equity firm), UCC Ueshima Coffee Company, the Trilateral Commission, Association of Corporate Executives ("Keizai Doyukai") and New England Conservatory. He is also the author of many business articles and publications.
Mr. Hori holds a Master of Science in Management degree from Sloan School of Management at MIT and a B.S. from Waseda University in Japan.
